Abstract
The purpose of the panel discussion was to provide a forum for participants to engage in a thoughtful discussion on community-based physical activity programs being offered for disabled individuals in their communities. Representatives from California State University at Chico, Kean University, and University of Hawaiꞌi at Mānoa – shared their programs.

Kelle L Murphy, Center on Disability Studies, University of Hawai'i at Mānoa
Dr. Kelle Murphy’s expertise is in adapted physical education and physical education. She has been running Swim Safe: ASD, a swim program for individuals with ASD, for the last 8 years on Oʻahu. Her research interests are in the areas of drowning prevention and safety and risk management.
Alex Stribing, Kean University
Dr. Alexandra Stribing, PhD, is an assistant professor at Kean University in Health and Physical Education. Her service initiatives focus on developing inclusive and empowering programs for youth with disabilities. She is the current director of the Cougars C.L.I.M.B. Adapted Physical Education program and Camp Abilities Field of Dreams. Dr. Stribing’s research efforts concentrate on motor development, physical activity, and health attributes of youth populations (a) with and without disabilities and/or (b) from disadvantaged settings. Specifically, her current research focuses on perceptual influences on actual motor competence in youth with visual impairments. Dr. Stribing has published in numerous peer-reviewed journals such as British Journal of Visual Impairment and Blindness, Journal of Motor Learning and Development, and Adapted Physical Activity Quarterly.
A. Josephine Blagrave, California State University at Chico
Josephine Blagrave is the Director of the Autism Clinic at Chico State. Dr. Blagrave’s research focuses on health and activity experiences of autistic individuals and their families as well as improving support for neurodiverse individuals in higher education. Dr. Blagrave is also the mother of two adopted autistic twins.
